03 - 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
04 - 2 tbsp almond flour or whole wheat flour
05 - 2 tbsp light brown sugar or coconut sugar
06 - 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
07 - 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
08 - Pinch of salt
09 - 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
10 - 2 tbsp unsweetened applesauce

11 - 1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries

# Method:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F.
02 - Wash and core apples, keeping the bottom intact to form a cavity for the filling.
03 - In a medium bowl, combine rolled oats, nuts, almond or whole wheat flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until uniformly mixed.
04 - Add melted unsalted butter and applesauce to the dry mixture and blend until evenly moistened.
05 - Optionally fold in raisins or dried cranberries to the crumble mixture.
06 - Position apples upright in a baking dish and fill each cavity generously with the oat-nut crumble.
07 - Pour 2 to 3 tablespoons of water into the bottom of the baking dish to prevent sticking during baking.
08 - Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
09 - Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
10 - Serve warm, plain or accompanied by a dollop of Greek yogurt or plant-based alternative.
