Recipe Guide

What type of potatoes are best for this soup?

Russet potatoes work well due to their starchy texture, which helps thicken the soup and creates a creamy consistency.

Can I substitute the dairy ingredients?

Yes, plant-based butter, milk, and sour cream alternatives can be used to make a vegan-friendly version while maintaining creaminess.

How does pickle brine enhance the flavor?

Pickle brine adds a subtle tangy brightness that balances the richness of the dairy and potatoes.

Is it necessary to temper the sour cream?

Tempering the sour cream by mixing it with hot soup before adding prevents curdling and ensures a smooth texture.

What herbs complement the pickles in this dish?

Fresh dill and dried thyme provide aromatic notes that enhance the pickle's flavor and add depth.
