  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional for low carb, skip for dairy-free)
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

Wash and separate the lettuce leaves. Pat them dry and set aside.
2.
In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.
3.
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
4.
Add ground turkey. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spatula, until no longer pink (about 5–6 minutes).
5.
Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1–2 minutes until spices are fragrant.
6.
Add tomato sauce and water. Stir well and simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
7.
To assemble, spoon the turkey mixture into lettuce leaves. Top with diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, red onion, avocado, and cilantro.
8.
Serve immediately with lime wedges for squeezing.
