Last fall, I whipped up this chai fizz for a cozy night in. Its warm spice and citrus notes turned an ordinary evening into something special. Friends loved the creative combination—even the skeptics!
Ingredients
- Chai Base: 1 cup water, 2 chai tea bags, 1 cinnamon stick, 2 whole cloves, 2 thin slices fresh ginger
- Sweetener & Citrus: 2 tbsp maple syrup (or honey), 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice, 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
- To Finish: 1 cup chilled sparkling water, Ice cubes
- Garnish (optional): Orange slices, Cinnamon sticks, Star anise
Instructions
- Make the Chai Base:
- Bring 1 cup water to a simmer. Add chai tea bags, cinnamon stick, cloves, and ginger. Simmer gently for 5 minutes.
- Strain & Cool:
- Remove from heat. Discard tea bags and spices. Let the concentrate cool slightly.
- Add Sweetener & Citrus:
- Stir in maple syrup, lemon juice, and orange juice.
- Fill Glasses:
- Add ice cubes to two glasses and divide chai mixture evenly.
- Top & Serve:
- Pour 1/2 cup chilled sparkling water into each glass. Stir gently to combine.
- Garnish:
- Add orange slices, extra cinnamon stick, or star anise. Serve immediately.
